What GöSol makes
Nail clippers and nippers, files, and the plain instruments a household actually uses. No gift boxes, no engraved cases — the money goes into the steel and the grind, and the instrument arrives looking like a tool rather than a present.
Every piece carries the same mark: GÖSOL · SOLINGEN · GERMANY, stamped on the body of the clipper. Solingen is a protected designation of origin, not a marketing word — an instrument may only carry it if the essential steps happened in the city.
What the clippers are like
The blade is set on a curve rather than straight across, so the cut follows the shape of the nail instead of fighting it. The lever is long enough to close a thick toenail without forcing, and the body is wrapped in a soft grip that stops the instrument turning in wet hands.
They come in two sizes and the choice is simple: the larger one for toenails, the smaller for fingers. A set of both covers a household, which is how ours is sold.
How they differ from a drugstore clipper
A drugstore clipper is stamped from sheet and sharpened once, on a belt, at speed. It cuts for a season and then starts folding the nail rather than severing it — the split edge that catches on fabric comes from a blunt clipper, not from brittle nails.
A ground Solingen edge meets along its whole length. You hear the difference: one clean click instead of a crunch, and the clipping stays in the tray instead of flying across the room.

In Solingen, Germany. The mark GÖSOL · SOLINGEN · GERMANY is stamped on the body of each clipper. Solingen is a protected designation of origin — instruments may only carry it if they were made in the city.
What is the difference between the two sizes?
The larger clipper is for toenails, the smaller for fingernails. The larger one has more leverage and a wider jaw for thick nails; the smaller gives finer control. Our set includes both in one leather case.
Are GöSol clippers good for thick toenails?
Yes — that is what the larger clipper is built for: a long lever and a jaw that opens wide enough to take a thick nail in one cut rather than in pieces. For medical conditions of the foot, consult a podiatrist first.
Why do GöSol instruments look plain?
Because the presentation is deliberately left out. GöSol does not sell gift boxes or engraved cases — the price reflects the steel and the grinding, which are the same work done in the same city as the expensive brands.
How long does the edge last?
Years of household use. When the cut finally starts to fold the nail instead of severing it, the steel is still sound and a grinding workshop can restore the geometry.
